Holiday home ‘Antico Mercato’ offers rooms with drystone walls and recess brought back to life to show the traditional home and work places of our ancestors.
Holiday home ‘Antico Mercato’ is composed by three autonomous houses: Anto’s House, Alby’s House and Giuly’s House. All the space and bedrooms are loving, bright and fresh with big windows or balconies facing the sun terrace and the natural landscape.
‘Antico Mercato’ is situated next to the Old Market of Ibla, very closed to ‘Palazzi Sortino and Cosentini’, ‘Piazza degli Archi’ (Arches Square) and ‘Chiesa delle Anime Sante del Purgatorio’ (Church of the Souls of the Purgatory) and Church of ‘Santa Maria dell’Itria’.
The stairway next to holiday home ‘Antico Mercato’ brings you directly in few minutes to the main and most important church of Ragusa Ibla, ‘San Giorgio’, a stunning architecture from Baroque era, also set of ‘Detective Montalbano’ fiction.
Ragusa ibla is the old town of Ragusa. The two part of the city are separate by the ‘Valle dei Ponti’, a deep valley crossed by 4 bridges. Ibla was destroyed from the earthquake in 1693 and it has been re-built as one of the most important baroque city in Sicily.
Holiday home ‘Antico Mercato’ is just 20 minutes away from the baroque cities Modica and Scicli, 25 minutes away from the beautiful and touristic beaches of Marina di Ragusa, that can be reached by a public bus service.
From Ibla you can move by car to Noto and Marzamemi in just 40 min and 50 min to Siracusa and Piazza Armerina. The closest airport is Comiso ‘NOME DELL’AEROPORTO’, only 20 min away, but also Catania’s airport is reachable in 60 min. From the airports there are bus services to the city.
Great location to explore the spectacular architectures, monuments and history of Sicily, living the tradition, culture and landscape of a population that has been influenced by Arabs, Romans and Greek. Moving from the mountains to the sea sides via cities like Taormina with the ancient Greek theatre (still in use with season performances) ,and Agrigento with the valley of the temples ‘Valle dei Templi’. You can also do the tour of Mount Etna or a trip around the beautiful landscape of the rural areas of Ragusa. You can also visit the ‘Donnafugata Castle’ with the aristocratic rooms and a botanical garden, set of ‘Il Gattopardo’ movie and exhibitions. As well as the archaeological areas with the very closed Kamarina Museum.
